About

Marc Escachx was born into this world the last days of the end of the millennium, back in December 1995. The dice of destiny were cast on a fateful day as a child: he bought his first set of Magic cards, oh the horror! From that moment on he knew precisely what he wanted to devote his life to (besides playing Magic): he wanted to do what the Demigods with their brushes could, and that was becoming one of the Chosen…

Of course computer games like Warcraft, the Warhammer miniatures and having a hairy ass-long-maned metalhead for a brother didn’t do much good in getting him on his path of becoming a lawyer… in fact, it got him completely sucked into worlds of fantasy, magic, darkness… a full-blown nutjob, that is!

With little hope left, all was lost when watching The Lord of The Rings trilogy with his brother, and thus he was taken by the far-reaching tentacles of Sword and Sorcery, by means of the spells cast by Tolkien and Pratchett (among others) giving meaning to his fated existence…

And if things could not get any worse, he entered medieval reenactment, thus gaining historical inspiration for his works.

His crafts were honed during his late high school years and, later, in the Joso School for Comic and Visual Arts. But he had a major crash-landing when joining the ranks of the working craftspeople: he drew anything he would get paid for, from metal album covers to NSFW material to works for advertisement
companies. Those were sad days…

He then went on to study classical carts at the Barcelona Academy of Art. His artistic abilities improved while working more learned
and older comrades in craft. In the jousting courts of international events he achieved his first victories over other pencil-warriors and brush-knights.

Little by little, the oppressive yoke of the sell-sword artist lost its hold on him when he started rejecting works not suited to his needs and vision, finally entering the worlds of fantasy he always hungered for…

He currently lives in Terrassa, Catalonia, and his life is a long standing juggle between his work as illustrator and concept artist for the videogame industry, working for companies such as Fantasy Flight Games, Blizzard, Dire Wolf Digital, Mooncolony...; his work in teaching the upcoming hell-spawn and attending workshops around the globe. But that is a tale for another day...
